精华 看上个房子,带个swimming pool

I am so glad to see you guys are having pools and I can learn from you. I have done "pool opening" this spring by myself and I will need to do "pool closing" for the first time. I know who to talk now. :-)

Yes. This summer's weather was cooler than usual, but the kids did not mind at all. I am planning to add a solar heating sometime next year.

[I'm not sure why you need to cost $400 to close the pool. It's not so hard to close and open your pool. We can share the information if you want.
Yes, Kids really like pool and daddy get rewards when u see it... ;-)
Well, the cold summer like this year is really not good for swimming pool owner...[/quote]

Hi Mathguy,

I hope you can give me some clue.

This winter came too fast and gave me a rush to close the pool. I rushed to lower the water level this Monday and put the cover on, also I drained the pump, the filter. However I did not get chance to blow the piple until this afternoon. I think the pipes should not be damaged since the weather has not been so cold.

This afteroon, I went to Costco and grabbed a shop Vac. Unfortunately the shop Vac comes with the 2' pipe with the blower and it does not fit the pool water pipe which is 1'1/2 . I almost decided to return the shop Vac and go somewhere else to get another one. However I really did not want the risk of pipe cracking. So I just made some fitting with drain parts and it worked well. I meant I did blow the water out from the pipes. :) I am sure the pipe won't crack tonight. I will blow the pipes again tomorrow to make sure the water is completely out.

I am so confident about most of the pool closing part except the pipe to main drain.

My main drain at the pool bottom is connected to the skimmer. Another pipe connecting to skimmer is to the pump. I blowed out the water from the pipe connecting to pump and plugged the hole. Then I tried to blow another pipe (connecting to the main drain). However, the water came back after I stopped the blowing. I guess this is normal because the water level in the pool is not that low.

After some brain work, I just poured in the antifreeze to the skimmer and they flew to the pipe (to main drain) and then I inserted the foam to the pipe and plugged the hole. My hope is that the antifreeze and the foam in the pipe would protect the pipe. Do you think this is good enough:confused::confused::confused:

Of course, I will blow the pipe(from skimmer to pump) tomorrow again and pour in some antifreeze and plug the Gizzmo in the skimmer.

How do you think? Hope I can get your reply as soon as possible. The winter is right here.

Thank you very much
