I totally disagreed with this view point.
Running red-light is one of the most serious offense in driving. The consequence is always fatal, it is not a 闪失 or 过失, it is an iresponsibiliy. When someone is clearly doing something wrong, not telling him the truth because he is a Chinese would not serve us any good.
Also, LZ was not up front in his descriptions of the offense either. If I didn't point it out, he would not even admit he was making a right turn at the time. Think about all your offense strategies you guys may propose, they will not work if you think he was driving straight forward.
As I posted earlier, his failure to come to a full-stop on making the right turn facing a red-light (Stop-sign rule applied in this case) is very dangerous also. If he is driving in Quebe, he will surely get a big fine, it is because in Quebec, no right turn is allowed in red-light (I am not sure it is allowed in Hull now).
I am not trageting LZ here, just to set some of you striaght.

In Canada, one is allowed to turn right on a red, only after a complete stop, unless a sign states otherwise. In the province of Quebec, turning right on a red was illegal until a pilot study carried out in 2003 showed that there were no significant adverse effects of the right turn on red maneuver. Subsequently the province of Quebec now allows universal right turn on red, except where it is prohibited by a sign. However, due to locally specific safety concerns, it remains illegal to turn right on a red anywhere on Montreal Island. Motorists are reminded of this via large signs posted at the entrance to all bridges.

你这些说得都没错， 我完全赞同大家要谨慎行车，要遵守规矩。不过不要把人家当小孩看待，这种开车小心，遵守规则的事，你觉得他是第一次听说么？
你要明白，道理，听得进去的人听，听不进去。你说多少次都没用。。
但是面对现在的情况，如何来解决告票，这个问题，才是lz真的需要的帮助。
那如果你不想帮他，甚至觉得他活该，那就算了贝，没必要又教训他一次。。 如果想帮， 就像ccc这样，出谋划策， 就我来说，我对这种做法，是有感动的。。。如果我是lz,我会引以为戒，对ccc感激不尽

If not, LZ better be sure his defense is sound and valid, or if they bring those pictures out afterward to show that he lied, then the fine would not be just the original stated amount.
ccc said LZ has a case because he made the right turn, well, not necessary if those pictures could prove that he didn't fully stop.
Think about this, the court and the police must have heard hundred of excuses in their cases, you think this is the 1st case they ever bump into for someone running the red light while making a right turn? And if throw out every one of those cases, don't you think LZ will ever receive a ticket like this? (Sure, not everyone contesting the fine).

今天早上抽空去了法庭约了上庭时间，过程感受如下
1：接待的是一个比较年轻的白人女人，但是感觉彪悍，穿着暴露，对以往关于法庭的概念是个冲击。
2： 这位女士告诉我证据确作，上庭也是一样，让我最好现在就认了，省得再来一次，结果是一样的。因为借口有hundreds people like you say the same way.
3：我问她为何证据却做：她的解释如下：A：第一张照片显示的的速度是40km/h
B: 第二张显示的是25公里，虽然第二张不是我，但是她说，庭上会展示我右转弯车辆的尾部，也就是说还有其他照片。我不可能full stop!
另外通过这事，名却了一件事情：就是stop sign 不需要停3秒，需要的事full stop!!!! 而已。
通过我获得的信息，个人感觉收获为: 以前不知道照片上显示了速度，第二，获胜可能性不大，除非，可以向电影里那样的律师一样，有个太强有力的借口。
上庭时间大概在一个月后，我会把具体公略，详细记述下来供各位朋友参考。

那你应该当场听完她的解释后，要求按红灯没有full stop罚款。那不会是$180。
出庭的时候，我想，不必过多申辩，承认是右转没有full stop，是违章（承诺以后会杜绝），但不是闯红灯直行，要求法官重新“量刑”，按红灯没有full stop罚款。
