Do you know that the 点心, 馒头, 煎包 等 at T&T are not made fresh in Ottawa? They came frozen and are transported from Toronto to Ottawa. Because of the transportation cost, T&T charges more (50 cents more than those sold in Toronto's T&T). Now you understand why it costs more to buy the buns in Ottawa.
Besides, in Toronto, T&T gives 30% discount off the regular price after 3:00PM and 50% off off the regular price after 5:00PM. In Ottawa, T&T throws away any leftover instead of giving discount to customers. I don't understand why they treat Ottawa customers differently.

in toronto, TNT is facing fierce competition, they have no choice but to keep the price low. In terms of throwing away any leftover, I do know it is the same with Costco at their bakery department. At the end of the day, they always give away their leftover bakery (except breads) i.e. muffins, bagels, etc.. to the charity.
