2010 City Budget
What it means to you:
* 2010 municipal tax increase: 3.77 per cent
* Estimated impact on an average Ottawa home, assessed at $285,000: $138
* Transit fare increase: 7.5 per cent, to be implemented starting in March
• A regular monthly adult pass rises from $84.75 to $91.50.
• A regular monthly student pass rises from $65.25 to $73.25.
• An adult cash trip rises from $3 to $3.25.
• A child (six to 11) cash trip rises from $1.50 to 1.60.
* Hall and pool rental rate increase:
two per cent
* Adult arena rental rate increase:
two per cent
What was added to the final budget:
* Crime Prevention Ottawa: $510,000
* Reinstating transit route cuts and reorganization: $3 million
* Increased budget provision for growth in parks, buildings and grounds: $1 million
* Reinstating stump removal: $150,000
* Reinstating funding for tree trimming: $330,000
How they got some savings:
* Deferring repair and maintenance work at Lansdowne Park: $2 million
* Reducing proposed budget for IT desktop and peripherals renewal: $935,000
* Deferring some environmental assessment studies: $750,000
* Increasing water and sewer rate recovery by four per cent over 2009: $735,520
