(BUT) I think you were charged with "Running YELLOW light". A lot of drivers don't know this law, (you don't know doesn't mean you are innocent and won't get a ticket), they think if the traffic light is yellow, I still can pass the traffic light, entering intersection and drive to the other end. A friend has received a ticket four years ago. He told the police woman he noticed the car at his back was driving so fast that he fears he will be hit at the back if he tries to stop. The police woman said she noticed that, and she said if you stop and the car at the back rear ended you, the car at the back will receive ticket, and the car at the back actually stopped and didn't run yellow light. Running yellow light is tricky. You won't get a ticket only if and only if your car has reached the other side (passed the intersection) and the traffic light is STILL YELLOW, and if the moment you are crossing the intersection and traffic light has changed from yellow to RED, you are violating that law - running Yellow light.
