USB硬盘盒? how much does it cost? I have an 1tb external usb harddrive. don't think I will dismantel it so that I could use it as USB硬盘盒though.

HP dv9000, 用了不到3年.
先是hinge断了, 无法合上, 带病工作, 期间, 在ebay 买的零件还没寄到, 干脆就罢工了.
症状是: power on, 所有的指示灯都亮, 风扇也转, 但LCD没有任何响应, 过了5-10秒,自动power off.
应该是BIOS自查的时候找不到某硬件. 怀疑是graphic card 的问题.

昨天hinge寄到, 换了. 同时把能拔插的部件都拔插了. 电脑能随便开合了,但还是不能启动. 症状依旧.

请行家指点这是什么问题. 或:如何诊断?

很可能是 inverter 的问题，检查 inverter 以及两头的 plug cables。如果 LCD cable 是在坏的 hinge 一侧，最好再检查一下 LCD cable 和 video connector。

I connected the laptop to an external monitor. no signal either. In this case, should I still check the inverter? seems the motherboard is broken.

Are you using Windows XP and a password account?

Many notebooks (include old OS) can't detect and display a new device (secondary display, VGA or S-video output) before getting into (login) OS main window, you have to setup configuration of multiple display (Primary Device and Secondary Device in Graphics Properties) so that you could connect to the secondary display automatically next time.

Did you hurt the motherboard? You better send your notebook to a computer repair store, pay about $50, let them figure out the problems, and you replace the parts by yourself.

推荐ThinkPad，唯一的缺点是左下角的键不是Ctrl，常常搞错

那个function键，习惯就不会按它了。Ctrl键是它的一倍大，没有问题。

先后六台，没有出过任何硬件问题。一键系统恢复实在方便。

另外，我的机器都接键盘、显示器、鼠标、音箱，这个麻烦体现不出来。我把ThinkPad当台式机使用。哈哈
