Help! Nortel DCPP

我工作在Nortel 从2000/6 到 2001/12. 我拿了全部 DCPP 当我被 laid off. 我一直有这DCPP 在我 Sunlife pension 帐户里. 去年八月 Sunlife 把我的DCPP全转给 Nortel. 说我工作不到2年 DCPP 要返回 Nortel. 我记得如果 laid off 那么不管工作多久都可拿全部 DCPP. 谁碰到类似问题?

I remember that according to Nortel 2000-2001 pension plan the employee get the DCPP (company contribution) based on working length. Example: each year x% and if the employee is laid off then he can take all DCPP no matter how long he works in Nortel.

我准备跟他们打官司. 很多朋友也是那时离开 Nortel 的. 是不是有人保存当时 lay off package 文件? 或是愿意做证明?

I rember DPSP is non match part of company contribution and belong to employee without 2-year-service requirement.

DCPP is investment match part of company contribution and directed to PH bond fund and you can not change it to other fund. My DCPP originally is about $5000 and now $7000.

I only keep my sunlife account statement since Dec. 2008. On this statement The DCPP vest statues is 100% vested. I request sunklife to provide 2000-2002 statements.They say maybe have maybe not. I wait for them.

I also ask Nortel to provide me a copy of the layoff package they say I have no access to my file because I am not Nortel employee now.

I try to find someone who got laid-off at the same time but not yet. I appreciate if some can provide original document or like to prove Nortel let laid off employee vest DCPP immidietly and keep it woithout
2-year-service requirement (for example: He/She vests DCPP immediatly and keep it without 2-year-service requirement when laid off).

Do you know who will be profit when my money is taken by Nortel pension plan administration company? Nortel or Nortel pension plan administration company?

Well, since you are still looking for help, I provide my 2 cents.

First of all, I don't have any document to help you. I resigned from NT in 2000 (should have stayed longer and could have severence package for a 12 yrs service!) Oh well. :-(

From what I remember, DPSP was the matching portion NT given to you of your contribution. 50% for Pension 1, 60% for pension 2, and 100% (1 to 1) for the Investment Plan. Since you started in 2000, you were likely in the Investment Plan. Your own contribution could be in RRSP or ATSV in the fund you have chosen. DPSP was NT matching contribution that was in NT fund.

DCPP, on the otherhand, does not have any matching. I believed it was 5% NT contributed for each year of service. This has 2 yrs service vesting. Therefore, you should not qualify for this DCPP. However, since I was not laid off, so I don't know whether NT waived the 2 yr service for the laid-off employees. I doubted they did.
