The Liberals imposed head taxes on the Chinese and refused to apologize for it. The Tories made amends to the Chinese, the Italians, the Natives, etc.

The Liberals imposed landing fees of almost $1,000 per immigrant, sponsored singing and dancing but refused to do anything to help PHDs and professional get jobs in the trained fields. The Tories cut the landing fee by half and started a program to recognize international credentials.

The Liberals don’t like “honour killing” being described as barbaric and supports a candidate who thinks that sexual offenders should not have to serve minimum sentence, and runs another candidate who hired a nanny before she gets the proper documents and refused to pay the poor woman. The Tories stood their grounds on issues of human rights, shift their care toward victims of crimes and have young immigrant small business women running as candidates.

Iggy said the Cultural Revolution was a positive event when most in China would agree that it was the darkest time of the country’s history. Harper told the Chinese it was unacceptable to jail people because they didn’t agree with the government.

And oh, when are the Liberals going to pay back the millions of dollars stolen in the sponsorship scandal? And why is Chuck Quite collecting full, high pension while in jail while the heoric Alan Cutler has to live on a teeny pension and can't get any federal contract because he had blown the whistle?

As for Jack, he put forward a platform without taking time to do the maths because he figured he would never have to be held accountable given the erstwhile low expectation on his fortunes. He has several candidates who are now vacationing in Vegas and Paris or simply gone missing because they were serious about running. As such, one can hardly take them seriously.

Jack has promised to impose French only policy on all Federally regulated jobs in Quebec, in addition to public service, that includes banks, airlines, transportation industry. For someone who supposedly advocates for multi-culturalism, it is more than hypocritical for Jack to promote the very racist Bill 103 which imposes prejudice against everyone but the Francophones. And Jack wants to talk constitution when everyone in the world is concerned about economic future. And of course he wants to impose a carbon tax but can’t even be as honest as Dion to call it as such. Cap and trade has failed wherever it was implemented and in Canada it will kill jobs and not create them.

Jack and Olivia also lived in a susidized three-bedroom house while drawing salaries as Toronto Councillors. Jack and Olivia lived in subsidized house since 1985 but paid $800 a month and only started paying $325 extra to bring it up to “market rent” in MARCH 1990. And they moved out in JUNE 1990. A grand total of 3 months "market rent," 5 years after having taken advantage of and taking away from the very people they claim to represent. In case you are not aware, Jack was a city councilor as of 1982. Jack also had a habit of “biking to work” but hired a limo with public funds to ship his working documents to work.

Jack doesn't want to have two-teer healthcare for average Canadians but had no qualms about going to a private clinic for a hernia surgery. He does sound so sincere about waiting list, doesn't he? Double speak? You bet!

And Jack is far from competent. He wants now to "tell" the Bank of Canada, an arms-length body which reports to the Parliament, to keep interest rate low. Intervening with the monetary policy. OK, I'll give him credit for back-paddling on that later.

I used to think Jack was a principled man. But given how willing he is to sell the rest of Canada for gaining Quebec, I have to say I erred badly in my judgment. Even a few days of Jack-led government can lead to damage that will take years to recover. Already the Canadian dollar has dropped against 17 foreign currencies. Do you really think we should risk the political uncertainty?

In contrast, Harper's kids go to a Public school and his mother babysits them when Stephen and Lauren are on the road. When Mama Harper needs to go shopping, she walks or buses herself to Rideau Centre, sans pomp or ceremony or even a guard. You won't hear about this because Stephen does not brag about being a decent authentic Canadian and is not good at acting. I know this because a friend knows the Harpers well as their daughters happen to be great friends. I admit that Harper is not a warm and fuzzy kind of guy. But I don't need a warm and fuzzy guy for a prime minister. I want a competent prime minister. He is not being exactly a darling of the media who often does not allow him to finish his sentences. But he is leading with statesmanship, poise and most of all...prudence.

I am not suggesting that the Tories are lily pedals. They certainly have a long way to go to improve accountability even though they did a good first step by passing the Accountability Act. They also need to impose more discipline in spending. Cleaning up the Public Service would be beneficial to taxpayers. Somebody should be held accountable there. Over 20,000 outstanding labour grievance in a department of 26,00 employees (HRSDC) does not give me confidence in the bureaucrats. They need to speed up Senate reform. Limiting the terms of Senators to 8 years would be a good start. Having elected Senators would also be most welcome. Investing more in innovation will be more than necessary for improving Canada’s competitiveness.

Having said that, given the choices facing us, I strongly believe only Stephen Harper should be given a mandate to govern and I hope that he’ll get a majority in which he can be a bit more relaxed and less confrontational and steer the country toward the prosperity it deserves.

As for political subsidies, The biggest beneficiary, apart from Tories because, believe it or not, they have actually had more than any other party in terms of public support, of the $2 per vote has been up to this election the Separatists. The Tories have a very wide citizen donor base with the average donation being $47 dollars.

And you know what I hate most? I hate the Liberal hubris in assuming that if someone chooses not to vote for a big statist government it somehow means he/she is a victim of a "hellish campaign of distortion and misinformation." I have personally be more than once called “stupid” and “an idiot” and an ideologue by people on the left who have refused to debate the issues and facts. Liberals talk loudly about how they represent the common people, but when the common people render a verdict against them it can't be that the liberal's conception of themselves is wrong, it must be that the poor, stupid, credulous masses were misinformed by the big corporate PR machine. This notion is elitist and wrong.

I would also like to mention that the Liberals were the ones that leaked the story of Jack being caught naked in a massage parlour known by Toronto police as a Bawdy house. Jack did not deny that he was there and blames a smear campaign. I don’t care where Jack puts his private parts. What I am concerned is the hypocrisy as we all know how fast Jack would have jumped on his opponents should this have happened to them, particularly since his choice of place to "relax" was a known locale where underage Asian girls were likely sexually exploited. The FACT is that Jack did not deny being in a place of questionable nature when the police arrived. If I can quote Paula Simons, one “would expect any discerning person, aspiring to a position of political leadership, e.g., Jack Layton, to have the good sense to stay away from places that were allegedly involved with gang activities and the exploitation of immigrant women. “

This election happened because the three opposition parties ganged up and declared that they would defeat the budget a good 6 months before it was tabled. If a coalition government gets in power, we’ll likely be having another one in short order.

Canada’s performance during the Economic crisis has been the envy of the world because Harper lead with a steady hand. We are not out of the woods yet and if I can quote a auto worker from Richmond Hill, “three hands at a steering wheel will lead the country down the ditch.”

Should I remind you that Harper’s approval rating within his party is 92% while Iggy was never elected. In fact, that in three out the four elections since 2004, only one Liberal leader was actually elected.

Please Vote for competence and stability if you can overcome your emotions which sometimes are not grounded on facts, as is true with most of us.

One hand (one party dictatorship) on the wheel is dangerous too !!!

So it's better to have 2 hands (two-party-coalition) on the wheel, is that what you mean ?

You are a genius ;-)
