The following message is from Dr. Rick Rowland, Manager of Health
Services, Algonquin College.
The Ottawa area continues to be free of reported cases of SARS. The
local hospitals have allowed students to return to clinical placements,
although visitors are still strictly limited.
The College is holding information meetings about SARS. Watch for the
notices on e-mail.
We still think it is a new strain of a common virus, which is infectious
only after the person carrying the virus starts to feel unwell. It is
spread by coughs, sneezes and by touching an object with the virus on it
and then touching your own eyes, nose, or mouth.
Health Services continues to practice the screening guidelines issued by
the province. However, we have not yet found anyone who has been at
risk of SARS.
There is no reason to think that attending classes or exams at Algonquin
College is risky under the present circumstances.
渥太华至今没有发现SARS病例。请大家放心。
