It is a commonly known fact that the Serbs are not fond of Muslims. On an individual level, my husband had been advised by his own Serb uncle a Muslim man should not be permitted to marry a Christian girl. Naturallyhe was devastated and didn't return to our place for 2 months. Then, he was prepared to undergo marriage with a Christian woman only if there was no immediate danger to his own life.
