Christmas tree fire injures three in Sandy Hill

Three people were injured after a Christmas tree went up in flames inside a three-storey Sandy Hill home on Friday night. The blaze started on the second floor of the house on Russell Avenue just before 9 p.m., the Ottawa fire department said. Firefighters were able to get the fire under control quickly. One person was transported to hospital with first-and second-degree burns, and two others were treated for smoke inhalation. On Thursday, a Christmas tree fire severely damaged a two-storey home in Rockland. One woman was treated for smoke inhalation.
