OTTAWA — The city has formally opened its 55 official sledding hills with an announcement Wednesday afternoon, though people have been using a lot of them since the snow started falling on the weekend. The hills range from tiny neighbourhood slopes in Cumberland Village and the Glebe to big man-made hills like the ones at Mooney’s Bay and Kanata’s Walter Baker Park. Being on the city-approved list means that some steps have been taken to minimize safety hazards — at least by pointing them out on signs. There’s a full list with a map on the city’s website at ottawa.ca, most easily found by searching for “sledding.”
