An Ottawa court has put off until Jan. 5 a request for a psychological evaluation by lawyers for an 82-year-old Ottawa man charged with firstdegree murder in the stabbing death of his wife. Court heard Friday that Ian Flann is in hospital and not able to be transported. He was charged after Doreen Flann was stabbed several times with a hunting knife in her room at a Barrhaven retirement home on Boxing Day. Ian Flann was taken to hospital suffering minor cuts to his neck.
