Hazeldean branch to test new library technology

After it is renovated, the Hazeldean branch of the Ottawa Public Library will be testing technology to speed the process of checking books in and out and taking inventory, staff say. The branch, at 50 Castlefrank Rd., south of Hazeldean Road, is to pilot radio-frequency identification technology that would replace current bar code technology and automate repetitive and labour-intensive work, free up employee time and improve customer service, according to library staff.
