Impaired driving charges laid in hit-and-run death of Smiths Falls man

A 51-year-old man is facing impaired driving charges in connection with a hit-and-run just south of Smiths Falls on Sunday night that resulted in the death of a pedestrian. The pedestrian, 40-year-old Thomas Irvine of Smiths Falls, was struck by a van at around 8 p.m. He later died in hospital.
