Father who lost son in hit-and-run wants tougher drunk driving penalties

A Smiths Falls father says he’s going to spend the rest of his life speaking out against drunk driving after the death of his son in a hit-and-run Sunday. A van struck Thomas Irvine, 40, while he was walking on County Road 29 just south of Smiths Falls at around 8 p.m. He later died in hospital.
