City to spend $600,000 to fight homelessness

City council has approved the terms of a program to provide $600,000 in annual funding for short-term rent support that is aimed at helping up to 200 households. Under the program, 180 households at “imminent risk” of homelessness and 20 homeless people already on the street would receive funding: a monthly allowance of $250 for an individual, and another $50 for each additional family member.
