If you’ve ever attended a convocation ceremony at U of O, here’s a hint: Huguette Labelle was the regal woman wearing a fur-lined red robe, who shook graduates’ hands (except in 2009, when officials nixed handshakes for fear of spreading the H1N1 flu virus) and whispered words of encouragement as each collected his or her degree.
