[FONT=&quot]The Ottawa Chapter, Professional Engineers of Ontario is pleased to present the 52nd Annual General Meeting at the RA Center, Courtside-B, on Wednesday, February 15, 2012. We would like to welcome engineers, families, friends and other professionals to join us for a great evening of networking, PEO business, new PEO member certificate presentation ceremony and an interesting keynote speaker. [FONT=&quot]Keynote Speaker:[/FONT][FONT=&quot] Michael Giroux, P.Eng., MBA [/FONT]



[FONT=&quot]Michael Giroux is the President of the Canadian Wood Council, a National Association representing manufacturers of Canadian wood products used in construction. The Council’s work is focused on Canadian and U.S. building codes and standards and on market education/development. These topic areas, as well as government advocacy, are familiar ground for Michael, whose diverse work portfolio includes 15 years of construction sector work with the National Research Council of Canada, the Cement Association of Canada and International Building Systems Limited, wherein Michael was co-owner. [/FONT]



[FONT=&quot]Topic of Address:[/FONT][FONT=&quot] Wood, Engineering and Renaissance [/FONT]



[FONT=&quot]Mr. Giroux’s presentation will explore the “green” dilemma faced by construction material suppliers – with a particular focus on the wood products sector. He will also look at the renaissance occurring in Canada for the increased use of wood in both mid-rise and tall buildings for the residential and commercial markets and the associated innovative opportunities for engineers.
