Migrating birds travelling from the south over the St Lawrence River and into the Ottawa area found very comfortable conditions awaiting them here. Much of the snow has gone, so the bare fields and the cut corn remnants provided plenty of food for the red-winged blackbirds, starlings and Canada geese. Many birders reported the arrival of these first spring birds. In many places, newly arrived robins joined the ones that have been here all winter.
