Attached the real story I experienced with Wind Mobile, share it with you and hope you won't got fooled like me after you read my story.
On February 4th, 2012 I purchased a Blackberry Curve 9360 at a Wind store located at 1433 Woodroffe Avenue. The plan was for $25.00 per month with unlimited airtime and unlimited messages for my daughter. I paid $111.87 for the Blackberry and SIM card.
After the purchase, my daughter started to use the smart phone. Because this plan was with unlimited airtime and messages, she called and texted all of her friends, I was happy too to refer this company to my friends and thought it was an economic plan.
My daughter used it for about 2 weeks. Then suddenly one afternoon, she found that she could no longer text or call. She contacted Wind Mobile and found there was a big balance (over $100) on the account. We were all extremely surprised, because wasn't this an unlimited plan? According to the plan, shouldn't I expect to pay $25.00 per month?
Then I called Wind Mobile multiple times. We explained what happened, and we found out that we had been charged with roaming that the salesman had not informed us of when we purchased the phone and plan. They said they would bring the case to the back office for investigation, and gave us a case number for reference, and told us to call back in five work days. So, we waited until the next week, and called, Wind Mobile back officer said the case was still under investigation, but the phone was still locked. During the next three weeks since our phone got locked, we called Wind Mobile customer service several times to ask them to unlock the phone, but we kept getting new tickets and same explanation that the case was still under investigation. Strangely, the balance on my account kept shooting up: from ~$100, to ~$200 and till more than $300. And in those past 3 weeks, the phone was locked and we could not even use it whatsoever!!! We were so puzzled, confused and unhappy. Where did these extra charges come from without being able to use the phone?
We strongly got the feeling that we were fooled and unfairly charged. We then brought the whole Wind package to the store at 1433 Woodroffe store where we made the purchase and explained to the employee and tried to return it. The saleslady said we couldn't return since it was over 14 days. We got the phone locked right after 14-day! The same day we decided to terminate our plan with Wind Mobile, because we had no idea how much the balance would grow for the next week..... What a timing!
I called Wind Mobile customer service again, explaining to them what had happened (I didn't remember how many times I had done this), they refused me to return the phone and declined to wave these roaming charges.
Now I have to keep the BlackBerry Curve 9360. It still looks brand new and shiny. But, it has no use since the phone has a specific, unique and rare design just for Wind Mobile. It has special frequencies of 1700MHz and 2100MHz, which is different from the most popular ones for other venders. This put us in a huge dilemma - Should we continue with Wind Mobile? If we decide continue with Wind Mobile, we really have no idea what is next? Are there some other hidden things? Can we put up with their bad service? On the other hand, if we decide to cancel the plan, then how about the phone itself? It costs us about $400 and we cannot use it anywhere else. All we can do with it is to use it as an electronic toy from a toy store and play a few offline games!
A few weeks ago, Wind Mobile send the bill to the AIC International company to collect me $375.00, I'm really not willing to pay, but the lady said it would impact my credit history....., I have very clean credit history for the past of my life. Last week, I had to pay $375.00 to AIC with the pressure of worry about my credit got damaged, but it's not my intention.
Friends and colleges of mine all suggested we should file a complaint against Wind Mobile to BBB to get their help to get my payment back. I hope I could get their prompt help!
