Looking for a high speed solution

My landlord has the Roger TV and high speed, he put all the Cable Modem stuff in a room of second floor.
I am tring to use the high speed from basement, but if through the Router, then we have to install a long Ethernet cable from second floor to the basement; if through the Cable Modem, then I have to buy a new cable modem for the basement, probably quite expensive and even don't know where to buy one.

Anybody has idea what's the best solution for the problem? Thanks,

Just ask rogers to install another one for you.

yes, the wireless router works very good in the house including basement.
