Helmets to Hardhats: from toting rifles to handling hammers

After years of bureaucratic wrangling, a new program for retiring Canadian soldiers will be putting veterans to work in the construction industry as early as this fall. Joe Maloney, who helped found the Helmets to Hardhats program in 2003 for returning American soldiers, said he’s pleased to finally be moving ahead on adopting it for veterans in his native Canada.
