City looking for police stations to fully go smoke-free

The city wants the Ottawa Police Services Board to follow in its footsteps by banning smoking outside properties such as police stations. Smoking in areas outside municipal facilities, such as City Hall, was prohibited in February as part of a set of changes approved by city council that also outlawed smoking on bar and restaurant patios, in parks, playgrounds, on beaches and near vendor stands at the Parkdale and ByWard markets.
