'Project Avalanche' drug raids target Outaouais drug trade

OTTAWA — Police in the Outaouais were conducting a series of raids Thursday morning in an operation called Avalanche meant to dismantle a drug ring, according to Gatineau police. Police expect to arrest at least 20 people for trafficking cocaine, marijuana and other drugs. Police have searched 18 locations so far and seized illegal substances, vehicles and other evidence.
