我想颔养一只猫。请问各位行家怎样选择一只适合有孩子家庭的猫咪？
哪些猫比较经济安全、习性好，不难养？请问猫几岁预防针只须一年打一次？

If you adopt a cat when it is young, then you have less trouble to have it fit in your family.

In terms of 经济安全, all cats are the same.

What do you mean by "习性好，不难养"? If you are going to adopt a cat, chances are you will get a *domestic* cat as opposed to a specific breed. Therefore there is no specific trait. Every cat is different anyway. They all have their own personalities, just like us.

May I know where can I find a cheaper vet clinic in ottawa west for my kitten follow up check ? Why do we still have to pay for the check up when we just got our kitten from humane society? Do we have to bring the kitten for injection even though there is one injection given from humane society. By the way, my kitten is only 3 months old and one shot given. I am not planning to leave it outside the house any time anyway.

我养狗，但是我朋友养猫，聊起来的时候觉得大致应该是一样的。 一岁内的， 都是打3 rounds vaccinations. 第一次过后基本就是每月一次了。 过一岁了， 就每年只体检一次和打一次针。
每家vet的检查收费都稍微不同，至于vaccination的价格变化比较小。 比如我家狗狗拿夏季除虫药的时候要做blood test，有的vet就会让我顺带检查，收我70块的vet consulattion fee， 有的vet就不charge， 因为blood test抽血是是technician做的，没其他的问题，干嘛要consult。 你可以打电话多去几家问问， 让他们给你一个cost quote/estimate。如果你家猫猫是in house的， 需要的vaccination种类可能会少一些。 你也可以问问他们， 让他们解释给你每一种是什么用途，你就好决定了。

总能找到一家服务价格比较好的。

我个人觉得如果humane society已经检查过了，原则上就不用再检查了。我们当初领养的时候，虽然针都打过了，但我们还是又送去我们的兽医那里检查了，就是以防万一。如果该打的针都打过了，那就不用了，如果没打全，就得打全。

我记得好像只有狂犬疫苗是每年都要打的（记不清了），因为我家的猫只在室内，不出门，所以针打全后，我们就再也没有给他打过针。

至于便宜的诊所，就象楼上说的，要多问问，找找。我家猫问题很少，所以我就就近找了个诊所，没有管价钱的问题，反正一年也去不了一次。

另外如果你家猫是男的，要注意给猫多喝水，防止尿道结石（也许是肾结石）。
