Hintonburg Hub organizers optimistic even as backers pull out of project

OTTAWA — Though the latest plans for a new housing, health and social-services centre in Hintonburg have fallen through, the activists behind the effort aren’t giving up. “Every time we fail, we’re closer than we’ve come before,” said Vicky Smallman, chair of the board of the Somerset West Community Health Centre, which is trying to set up a satellite centre to offer medical care and broader health and wellness programs in the under-served west-side neighbourhood.
