Council OKs staff discussions on ‘Sensplex East’ arena plan

OTTAWA — City staff should enter negotiations with a group looking to bring the “Sensplex East” to an area just east of Beacon Hill, council’s finance and economic development committee decided Monday. The Ottawa Community Ice Partners, a not-for-profit organization whose members include the Ottawa Senators, the National Hockey League team’s alumni association and the Morley Hoppner group, submitted a proposal for a four-pad arena that was preferred by city staff looking for a private partner for a new indoor rink facility in Shefford Park.
