Police arrest 4 in cross-border trafficking case

OTTAWA — Police announced charges Thursday against four people from Ontario and Quebec for their alleged involvement in an attempt to smuggle a family from the United States into Canada close to Cornwall this past June. The family of two adults and three children was taken by land to Cornwall Island around June 18, Royal Canadian Mounted Police alleged in a news release. They then went the rest of the way across the St. Lawrence River by boat.
