Police charge man in robbery that left employee injured

OTTAWA — Police charged a 49-year-old Ottawa man for the Sept 5. robbery of a Somerset Street retailer that included the assault of an employee that left the victim with minor injuries. John Field is scheduled to appear in court Monday facing charges of robbery and assault causing bodily harm after the police robbery unit located and arrested him on Sunday. Field was accused of entering a business in the 600 block of Somerset Street West around 7:45 p.m. on Sept 5 and demanding the employee open the cash register. When the employee refused, the suspect assaulted the employee and fled the scene without stealing anything. The employee suffered minor injuries.
