Very normal. I lost hooks, jig, sinkers and lures almost every time I went fishing. That is why it is called sports fishing. If you think you could get free fishes, think again. I did some math, Each bass I brought home this year would cost me about 20 dollars. lobster is cheaper that.
Fish hide between rocks, sinking logs. Throw bait at them , you would have 钩和线损失 for sure. So pro says if you don't lost few jigs per day you are not fishing right.
I suggest you use uni knot to tie your hooks. It is about 80 to 90 per cent knot. If you get a hook up, hold your line with your hand(use piece cloth if you are using braid) and pull it hard, don't pull it with rod you could break the rod tip. You should be able to pull that knot off. You will lost the hook but still have the line.
Good luck
