OTTAWA — A man already serving a life sentence for murder won’t stand trial for the shotgun slaying of a suicidal man nearly three decades ago after a Crown prosecutor concluded it was “unnecessary” to pursue a conviction. A first-degree murder charge was stayed against André Jeanvenne Monday, three weeks before he was to stand trial for allegedly killing Donald Poulin with a shotgun blast to the head and side in January 1983.
