11 Ottawa high schools fail to register sports teams for fall semester

OTTAWA — Hundreds of Ottawa’s sports-minded high school students will be sidelined this fall as a consequence of teacher protests against the Liberal government’s anti-strike legislation. Officials with the Ottawa-Carleton District School Board confirmed Monday that 11 public high schools did not register sports teams to take part in the numerous sports offered each fall to Ottawa-area high school students. The schools had until noon Monday to register teams for a variety of sports including football, soccer and basketball.
