OTTAWA — A quarter of roads and other transportation-related assets are at risk of problems or unfit for sustained use, while sports fields, wading pools and play structures are also deteriorating, staff found when they looked at the city’s infrastructure. As part of their “state of the asset” report, city staff looked at $11 billion worth of roads, sidewalks, guide rails, parking facilities and other things that make up the transportation file and deemed them to be in “fair” condition overall, though 25 per cent are in “poor” or “very poor” condition, and 54 per cent are “fair,” or in need of attention.
