OTTAWA — A recommendation from Ontario’s chief coroner to lower the speed limit on residential streets is a positive move, but more could be done to protect pedestrians, says an Ottawa safety group. The office of Ontario’s chief coroner recommended lowering residential speed limits to 40 kilometres an hour from 50 km/h in a report released Wednesday as part of a review into Ontario’s 95 pedestrian fatalities in 2010.
