Warm weather, cheaper gas lead to budget shortfall for transit department: report

Lower-than-anticipated fare revenues have the city’s transit department predicting a $5.2-million shortfall at year’s end. Fewer people have been using OC Transpo since April, as lower gas prices caused some to drive and warm and dry weather got others to walk or ride bicycles instead of taking buses, says a mid-year budget report prepared for the city’s transit commission.
