did you parents force you to speak or learn Chinese before?

My daughter always answers me in English. I feel so sad -- she just ignored even though I asked her speak Chinese at home

I hope she can find some Chinese friends to play together. I was not happy she didn't invite any Chinese classmate to her Birthday party - I asked her if she can invite a Chinese girl ( I know the girl and her family very well), she said no without hesitation because she never played together with her at school.

Really no idea what to do now. I really envy 香香's parents -- she got good staff from both sides.

我家宝贝来加拿大时都不会讲中文,2年里在中文学校学会讲中文,还认了点字,摘了文盲的帽子.
你女儿来加拿大前在国内都上小学了吧?我想她的中文底子比我家MM好多了.

所以要你在家让她强制说中文.弄些中文的CD,DVD,VCD什么的让她听,让她看.我觉得美国的滚桶式
教育有时候挺管用的 我的车里放了很多中文歌,日复一日听下去,我家MM基本上都会唱了,挺好的.

不用勉强，要尽量诱导。比如中文故事，电影，画报等都是不错的教材。
我认识的一个小朋友是被金庸的武侠小说钓上钩的。

真的,改天把Da tou er zi借我家MM看看:thanks: :thanks: 真的,你在家得强制她说中文.我就吃过这个亏,在日本时由于我没认真对待讲中文这个问题,最后的结果是我家MM听的懂我说的中文,可她一句中文不会讲. 到了这里由于我的英文不是很好,我就对她讲中文,她有时候不干,我就说妈妈听不懂,你用中文说给我听,她没办法,只好夹心饼似的用中文再讲一遍啦.

I know what Wendy is talking about~
I was like that when i first came here. I was eight at the time, and after about a year, i won't speak any chinese at home or at school. Mostly because there wasn't any chinese student at the school, but I just didn't feel like it's important anymore.

The way I got through it was my parents sent me back a year to stay with my grandparents. I really suffered to try and learn Chinese and math at school, but it really helped.

Wendy, I hope you find a way to solve this problem, cause it would be a pity for her to loose her mothertongue...

黑娃很不简单。这么小出国，中文一点没耽误，竟然还能说能写！

孩子本性,不能强求.
首先了解一下在学校有没同学歧视. 伊朗邻居家的女儿就承认笑话过中国同学,虽她自己也是少数民族.
童言无忌,伤人却深. 邻家中国女孩是不肯说中文的. 应该有关. 如果是这种情况除了跟学校反映,也可扶植其自豪感. 游戏王这里很火,但有几个加拿大孩子认得那几个中文(日文)标题啊.

兴趣也重要.我家儿子爱听中文儿歌,铿锵顿错,英文里没有.(只是一遍一遍又一遍,大人会烦得心如刀绞)

最基本的是中国文化的吸引力,挑几样孩子能感兴趣的试试.

另外我感觉女孩好象更需要认同感,穿衣打扮都要和流,不然会感自卑,更抵触中国文化.
