Rideau Canal worker recognition not being delayed by minister

Don’t blame Environment Minister Peter Kent for the delay in granting historic recognition to the thousands of workers who built the Rideau Canal. The blockage, it seems, is at the Historic Sites and Monuments Board of Canada. Last December, the board — which had previously rejected applications to designate the workers as historically significant — reconsidered the matter.
