Ottawa Hospital cuts nursing jobs

OTTAWA — The union representing nurses at The Ottawa Hospital says it has been told more than a dozen positions are being eliminated, with still more cuts likely to come. Union officials said most of the positions being eliminated are currently vacant. However, with six short-term rehabilitation beds already closed, three nurses currently assigned to those beds will see their positions disappear, said Frances Smith, president of the Ontario Nurses Association Local 83, which represents 3,800 nurses.
