Young mother to be reunited with infant born in detention centre

OTTAWA — Julie Bilotta, still behind bars three weeks after giving birth in an Ottawa jail cell, will soon be released to be with her baby, her lawyer said Wednesday. Don Johnson, a lawyer in Cornwall, where Bilotta is from, said that after talking to the Crown and federal prosecutor he was “very optimistic” that his 26-year-old client will be released.
