OTTAWA — The British government is spending about $2.4 million to renovate Earnscliffe, the national historic site that serves as its high commissioner’s residence. “The house really matters to us and we’re putting a million and a half pounds of British taxpayers’ money — at a difficult time for all of us — into the house so that we maintain it for the future,” British High Commissioner Andrew Pocock said during a tour on Wednesday.
