Restaurateur works to calm fans upset about Elmdale Tavern takeover

OTTAWA — He hasn’t spoken a word on the topic publicly, but local restaurateur Joshua Bishop kicked up a storm on Friday when it was confirmed that he has bought the Elmdale House Tavern, a Hintonburg institution and one of the few remaining venues for live music in the city. Rumours of the sale of the business were confirmed when one of the Elmdale’s owners, Nathalie Myles, posted a message on her Facebook site Friday, saying “Rumors are true. The Elmdale Tavern will change hands as of January 1st and it will no longer be a live music venue. Everything until then remains the same!”
