High school teachers could escalate job action Monday

Parents in Ottawa and across the province could face anxious moments next week, as high school teachers appear to be heading for job action that could affect thousands of students. Job action by the Ontario Secondary School Teachers Federation was to begin Wednesday in areas including Toronto, Waterloo and Halton. But the union has pushed that back to Sunday to give negotiations with the provincial government a chance. If those talks get nowhere, hundreds of teachers in school districts across the province — including Ottawa — would be in a legal strike position that would allow them to down tools by Monday.
