Restaurateur awaiting libel sentence also party to $1.5M lawsuit

OTTAWA — An Ottawa businesswoman, who will be sentenced Friday for libelling a critic of her downtown Latin-style restaurant, is now part of a $1.5-million lawsuit related to the failed launch of an Elgin Street steak house. Marisol Simoes was found guilty in September of criminal libel for conducting a smear campaign against a woman who wrote a negative online review of Mambo Nuevo Latino.
