OTTAWA — Place d’Orléans mall is a step closer to a half-million-dollar subsidy to help to build a grocery store that opened last summer, with a favourable vote from city council’s finance committee. With no discussion and just one dissenting vote, committee members voted to give the mall a break on the property taxes for the new store, adding up to nearly $500,000 over 10 years. The payments are to be made under a program meant to beautify St. Joseph Boulevard, where the new Farm Boy occupies a corner of Place d’Orléans’s property.
