OTTAWA — The city plans to carve temporary Transitway lanes out of Scott and Nicholas streets downtown in an effort to keep OC Transpo buses rolling during years of rail construction. Overall, the city’s rail planners are delighted that their favoured bid from the consortium called Rideau Transit Group will disrupt downtown as little as it will between 2013 and 2018, when the system’s due to open. But the biggest construction project in Ottawa since the Rideau Canal was built definitely won’t be painless.
