CHEO nurses win dispute over ‘consecutive weekend’ overtime

An arbitrator has sided with nurses at the Children’s Hospital of Eastern Ontario in a dispute about overtime pay that the hospital had argued would generate “onerous” costs if paid. The dispute, which triggered 19 grievances from individual nurses and two from the Ontario Nurses’ Association, dealt with whether the hospital was obliged to pay time-and-a-half to nurses who volunteer to work multiple weekends.
