A census-taker arrives at a house. He asks the woman living there the ages of her three daughters. The woman says:" If you multiply their ages, the result is 72; if you add their ages, the total is the same as the number on my front door, which you can see."

The census-taker replies," Yes, I can see the number, but that's not enough information for me to calculate their ages."

The woman says,"Well, my eldest daughter has a cat with a wooden leg."

The census-taker says,"Ah! now I know their ages."

What are the ages of the three daughters?

这个题相当经典

my eldest daughter 也可以是双胞胎的大的一个。所以好像还可以推敲一下。

my eldest daughter has a cat with a wooden leg

这可能是8吗??

This is a bullshit problem and is not a logic.

Since the census taker can see the house number but doesn't know the answer yet, it has to be either 2,6,6 or 8,3,3 (Because these are the only combinations that have the same sum)

Why come up this condition??? Most of other combinations are also possible.

After the woman says she has an eldest daughter, he knows the answer must be 8,3,3 not the one with two 6 year olds.

It also has an oldest daughter with twins, two daughters born in the beginning and end of year.
