CAA can give you international driver license, but, I think the "international driver license" is definitely a "garbage". useless. you must have Canadian (or other country's ) driver license. more over, the international driver license is also looks like a garbage, some papers.:flaming: If you have not canadian driver license, the international license is useless. even in other countries, you must use the two license together.

I never have international driver license issued by CAA. But my sister-in-law did. She used it to rent car in London and drove to other European countries. That was five years ago.

I have international driver license from a place south of China back in 1992, and I used it to rent a car in Toronto (Toyota). That international license has my photo hence I don't need to show my driver license from my issuing city, the international driver license is good enough.

Maybe you have bad experience and you were asked to show your Ontario/Quebec driver license, that is quite unfortunately and maybe people there are great at FAKING papers (anything you think of) hence they don't trust....

Can you tell us when and where you have to show both (international and Ontario/Quebec driver license?).
