Too busy, no time for ice fishing anymore.
For ice fishing, you need to dress very warm. On the lake, there is no building block the wind, the temperature could feel like -20 to -30. It usually freeze my fingers, even I hooked my finger, I don't realize it until I go home and see there is cut/bleeding on my fingers before I found out. Fish usually will freeze like a piece of rock after leave it on the ice for 2 minute. And you need a pair of good winter boot, your feet will freeze otherwise.
For Crappie fishing, you need a flasher (tool to locate where the fish in the water level) to find the fish and see the bottom structure. For walleye, you need to know how deep to put your bait down under the water; And there are special jigs for walleye fishing and you should add Stinger to your jig to increase the chance to hook on the walleye. Without the Stinger, you usually will miss it.
It is very bad experience to sit outside open area for the temperature like -25 for few hours without catch any fish.
